Meet the Stallholders - Christmas 2011

Pauline from Knitcro
I crochet and knit anything from bed socks, baby wear to adult cardigans, jumpers, tops to blankets, throws and so much more.
I do about 10% of my work without a pattern, following customer requirements but mostly I work from patterns knitting and crochet, that customers have chosen from my selection or bought themselves.

Meet the stallholders Spring 2011...

Pauline Sfendilis
What will you be selling at the Spring fayre?
At the Spring Fayre I will be selling crocheted and knitted adults' tops, cardigans, sweaters and jackets. I also have a new range of scarves and beanies.
My 'piece de resistance', this year, is a crocheted silk Christening ensemble consisting of coat/dress, bonnet and booties. The price will include a presentation box to make it a beautiful gift for a baby girl or boy.
What are your favourite materials to work with?
I love working with wool which has a high content of cotton, it just flows through my fingers!

What inspires your creations?
I can be inspired by a painting or by observing people in the street. I'm very much influenced by colour.

Meet the stallholders...

Pauline Sfendilis
Have you always been a 'crafty' person - how did you start making things to sell?
I have always loved 'creating' things and was French knitting, making pom poms and knitting from a very early age. I married a Greek man in the early 70's and went to live in a Greek community where all the Greek ladies would sit around crocheting and it was a case of joining them or feeling very left out!

In those days it was table cloths, bed spreads and the like but these days I crochet bags, back packs, scarves and beanies (which I design myself) and jackets, tops and cardigans. About 9 months ago my son-in-law asked me to crochet him a scarf and a beanie, and after he had worn them to work a flood of orders came in from his work mates, and it really took off from then!
